One 31.5" x 9.5" barnwood walking American Black Bear (Ursus americanus) carving, stained in cherry and then two coats of semi-gloss varnish. This unique sculpture shows off the gorgeous grain of the reclaimed and recycled 120-year-old solid white oak wood.
Mr. Black Bear is standing on the edge of a field trying to get a better view of you taking a photo of him. A tad concerned he finally decides that you mean no harm and slowly settles back down and moves off back into the forest.
This original one-of-a-kind sculpture would make the perfect gift for any animal lover!
The wood originates from a dilapidated barn in East Tennessee which I took down myself. Each piece of white oak has been carefully selected, treated organically with borax and cedar oil, and stored out of the elements. The backside has been left raw and includes a wire for hanging and my signature.
I feel each board has a story to tell and I want that story to come out in my art work.
